menu_book About this test
What is the anger style test?
Anger is a normal human emotion. It tells us that something matters to us, that a boundary has been crossed or that something feels unfair. What differs from person to person is not whether we get angry, but how: how quickly the feeling arrives, what we do with it, and how long it stays. This test describes your personal anger style. It does not judge you and it does not ask whether something is wrong with you.
The three things it looks at
- Trigger speed: are you Quick-tempered (Q), feeling irritation within seconds, or Slow to anger (S), needing a lot of provocation first?
- Expression: are you Outspoken (O), showing anger openly in words and tone, or do you Hold it in (H), keeping it inside? This draws on psychologist Charles Spielberger's well-known distinction between anger-out and anger-in, and his idea of trait anger as a person's general readiness to feel angry.
- Recovery: do you have Fast recovery (F), letting go once the moment passes, or is your anger Lingering (L), staying with you and replaying in your mind?
How it works
You will rate 24 short statements about everyday situations such as traffic, queues, family discussions, work and messages. It takes about 7 minutes. Answer according to how you usually react, not how you wish you reacted.
What you get
Your result combines the three dimensions into one of eight anger styles, such as the Summer Storm (QOF) or the Deep Well (SHL). Each profile explains your strengths, your blind spots, how your style shows up in relationships and at work, and practical ways to cool down, name your feelings and speak up calmly.
A gentle note: this is a tool for self-reflection, not a diagnosis. If anger is causing harm to you or to the people around you, talking to a qualified professional can really help.
